Unfortunately the above statement is true. We've been absolutely miserable over on Gecko and as far down Wash Rd as wash 16 at various times. Seems like it's just luck of the draw.

There have been threads on this before and there will be more threads during this coming season - and the next, etc.

Essentially, peer pressure is the best way to combat this problem.

However, the cell phone will also do the job - at least along the Gecko road camp areas.

Call the ranger station at Gecko road. The rangers will enforce the 10 PM noise curfew if alerted to it. They just don't drive around looking for it.

So, an anonymous call to the ranger station at 11-11:30 PM should get the noise shut down especially on the holiday weekends. At the very least, the rangers will come by the next day and have a chat with the offender(s).

If anyone is uncomfortable calling the rangers to "nark" on your noisy neighbors, then the problem will only continue. Perhaps leading to designated campgrounds?

However, I think most of the noisy types can be decent people that have some how been led to believe it is OK/normal to party late and loud.

Sometimes it may be the progressive blood alcohol level contributing to the euphoric oblivity as well.

What ever the reason, usually a repremand by the LEO's will alert them to the presence of their neighbors.

Each one of us spends a lot of hard earned money to go out there for a few days, let alone the investment in the toys. Most of us try, for the most part, to obey the rules that are in place. However, some people choose not to follow the rules due to ignorance or some belief that the rules don't apply to them.

Courteous people should never be intimidated by the oblivious, self-absorbed noise-makers; especially late at night when the family is trying to get some rest for the next day of fun.

My .02 - again.

On this last night ride when we first got there at 9PM-ish a vehicle pulls up and asks us "Where do people go to party around here?"
This is a Saturday night in the middle of September.
Glamis is a place to ride. This guy in his slightly lifted Expedition, with big chrome wheels and his G/F seems like they were going out to a club. Like Glamis is the place to just drive out to and you'll find people to party with all the time no problem...Just ask. :x

Just remember, wash 16 is haunted. Don't ever go there. It's a very bad place with very bad people (if you want to call them that). Just a warning.

Well unfortunately that image of G has propogated all over the off road world. I don't know why, I mean it's not like there's a 1,000 videos out there showing drunken idiots getting stupid at G in/on OHVs and blowing things up in camp..............oh wait, I guess there is 1,000 videos out there glamorizing the crazy stuff. :( :( :(

It's amazing how the entire purpose of the area can be lost in the crazy anciliary B.S. I think the official ISDRA motto should be "ITS THE SAND STUPID"

Yeah, and there's these psycho German Shepards out there that will FREAK out at the first sound of a fire cracker! They've been known to destroy 5vers screen doors and other furniture in short order.

Poor dogs, you'd think their owners would at least be compassionate enough to give 'em a downer or something.

I heard the party people are all going to Mexicali. They say that's the place to be. Mexicali. Yeah, that's it.

Tell everyone that asks. Mexicali.

Just a short drive to the border from Glamis.

Nice try, I usually work that angle with the Glamis v. Buttercup or Glamis v. Gordon's Well discussions. Yep...stay away from all Washes, they are bad places.

Just tell him to go all the way down Gecko Rd till you get to the end and then take a left, go straight for 3 miles and the party is there... We will find there bodies in October...

The nice thing about the loud music, yelling and screaming is you can't hear the industrial generator running all night.

383, Washroad asked but I havn't seen your reply. Are you trying to avoid them or join them?

I camp at Wash 3, and usually at Wash 10, but a couple of times at Wash 1 so I only know about those places....and the partying kind are not welcomed.

A quick call to the ranger's lets them know that!

To be honest, if you're inquiring of a place to "party" so that you can join them, break the law or violate the rules... Garbage Flats or the pit of Oldsmobile will find that for you. Take caution though, LEO's patrol heavily in both areas, and arrests are frequent. In which case, it's better if you don't come out at all.

Seriously, Glamis is no place anymore to be acting out the stuff you see in those 1000 videos. That footage is mostly from the days when Comp was still open on the holidays.

NO MORE! [-X
You have to play it by the book now.

Correct on the luck of the draw part.

Best to go on an off weekend and you will have your pick of the land.

I have had more luck out in the washes then on Gecko.

Get back in the washes on the border of the dunes and you should be fine.

I've solved the problem for loud music late at night.

I bought a LARGE speaker and will play Barry Manilow for breakfast music, pointing the speaker at the offending camp of course. Who wouldn't want to wake up to Barry after partying late into the night?

or the Enzyte song.

The good thing about Barry Manilow is that my wife has a FOUR CD set....We can put the CDs in my CD changer...turn it up... point the speakers at the offending camp from the night before....and give them many hours of early morning wakeup music....  :?

The neat thing is that you can't really hear the music if you are behind the speaker..... :D :D :D :D

I LIKE IT. =D> In fact I got a nice CD full of Russian folk instrumentals I would play. Then I remember back to my drinking days and once I was up ALL night W/the loud music them passed out I'm dead to the world for the first 3-4 hours. So I would have to add this additional step.

Point speakers
Turn up Russian music.
Shake Mo-ho or toy hauler of late night party people.
let them try to get back to sleep.

Good Stab Jacks make it hard to shake anyone's rig. To test mine, I always stand on the step and bounce, then watch to see if the blinds move.

Yeah but when you're pumping out heli Db's of bass the "vibes" will shake the crap out of anything the speakers are pointed at.

I can tolerate handle/mitigate "loud" but when they pump up the bass so it registers on the richter scale you're pretty much stuck. The wifey might like it (if it's the right frequency) but otherwise it's rude and obtrusive.

My problem with the early a.m. retailiation concept is with my luck I'd end up being the one thrown out or taken to jail. :(

Why do you think I test the stab jacks so throughly? 8) Ha! Who am I kidding? With my dad, a puppy and a todler in a 20' long trailer with us, we have a snowball's chance in hell of seeing any action which would warrant stiff Stab Jacks. #-o

I have noticed, that it does not matter which weekend you go on, Pad 3 at Gecko seems to have a party going on. I usually have good luck with Pad 4 (Quiet), except on major weekends. Pad 3 is always packed.

I am one for quiet after 10 - 11. Or at least keep the noise in your camp, including stereo noise.

Sorry, all of the partiers quit going to the dunes. They all bought jet skis and are at the lakes and rivers. If you are looking to party, you have to sell your sand toys and buy jet skis. Good luck to you.

Nothing wrong with a little party action, except when you infringe on other folks' safety and/or the general peace.

I like to party but I can do that without disturbing folks in the camps next to my group and to us partying doesn't mean getting so drunk you're rolling around on the ground, portraying lewd acts around minors, and it most definetly doesn't include drunk driving (out in the dunes or in Rhinos or golf carts in camp).

This fits well with this thread:

There is a BLM rule that states that,
No person shall operate or use any audio device, such as a radio, television, musical instrument, or other noise producing device or motorized equipment between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in a manner that makes unreasonable noise that disturbs other visitors; or operate or use a public address system without written authorization from BLM.

California Penal Code Section 415

415. Any of the following persons shall be punished by imprisonment
in the county jail for a period of not more than 90 days, a fine of
not more than four hundred dollars ($400), or both such imprisonment
and fine:
(1) Any person who unlawfully fights in a public place or
challenges another person in a public place to fight.
(2) Any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another
person by loud and unreasonable noise.
(3) Any person who uses offensive words in a public place which
are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction

Oh don't get me wrong here.... I'm all about a good margarita or three, an ice cold beer or five, and big laughs around a camp fire!!!
But, these actions never impact those camping next to me. Well, the light from my camp fire might broadcast onto the side of one's MH if they opt to camp so close.

Oh, I didn't know that was the agenda.
In that case, I'll let 'er rip...

Let's face it, a MC is not the ultimate dune machine, as the need for constant high speed forces the rider to do things he/she probably sholdn't be, like cresting razorbacks airborn without knowing what is on the other side.

The best offense to thwart the loud music from a neighboring camp of jerks is to Play the theme from "It's a Small World" (No matter what they do for the next 3 days, all they'll hear is that melody.)
