Camp LoBuck

Post by LoBuck » Sat Apr 10, 2004 3:48 pm

On occasion people will ask where I camp when I go to the dunes. My usual answer is that since I live so close, I normally just drive home and don't camp at the dunes.

Well, I've decided to come clean...

Good thing you don't camp. Glenn. That carport would take a heckuva trailer to get to the dunes!

Glenn,
I just bought an 84 CJ7. Any tips for mods, etc? It has a 258 6cyl and auto. Stock suspension. Took the swaybar and the hardtop off yesterday. Big difference going up hills.
Going with a spring over lift and 31x 10.50x 15 tires this week.
When are we going to meet up for a round of golf?

David

David, Congrats on the Jeep. I don't know much about the 258 six, but heard it is a good motor with mods to be had.

The lift is nice in the desert, but don't go too high if you're going to dune it. I probably have about a 6" lift between the leaf springs and a body lift, and it gets a bit too top heavy running the dunes. I've had a few scary moments. I am looking for a way to soften up the ride now, and may even consider lowering it. You only need enough lift to stuff the tires. I'm running 33x12.50x15 BFG MTs.

I was in Yucca 3 weeks ago, but it was an unplanned trip so I didn't even try to get ahold of you. Next time for sure!

I'm just surprised you did not get arrested for camping on the white house lawn...

I thought it was the beginning of the "million man march" to reopen the rest of Glamis.
