signing up as a supporting Member?

Post by DuneRookie » Sat May 29, 2004 8:16 am

I just made a $ 60 donation online in an attempt to have it reflect as a paying supporting member. Not sure I did it the right way. Any chance someone can help me out. Would be nice to have my info reflect supporting member....Thanks in advance for any help.

Larry,

Check out this thread. It will tell you how to link your accounts so the ASA Member logo shows on your posts.

It also my take a few days for you to show up as a supporting member. The store will have to notify the Membership Input Committe to update your account.

Actually to become a supporting member you should login to your existing account and then go to the "Members Only" link: http://www.americansandassociation.org/ ... index.html

From there you can change your membership type. However you would have to pay again to become a supporting member.

I would suggest droping an e-mail to Dick Holliday (membership@americansandassociation.org) and he can look up your donation and apply it towards membership if that was what you wanted.

Dear Jason / Dick...

I too have had problems with this. I've been a member since '01 and have contributed money in the past. However, when I try to access the members only section, I get an error message that says my member name (i.e. Glamisbound) is not in the database.

So I said, no problem, I'll just pay another $25 and sign up again. When I tried to do that, I got an error message that said my name and phone number were duplicates. I took this to mean it already has me in the system as a member.

If you have any advise, I'd like to hear it because I'd like to be recognized as a member too.

Thanks,
Loran Bailey

Loran

I sent you an email with the correct information that should allow you to upgrade your membership.

Thanks for your continued support.

Loran, your BBS username only works for the BBS unless you've merged your ASA membership account with your BBS account (which I can see you haven't yet since you don't have the ASA logo by your name.)

So what you need is your membership account retrieved. I'll send you an e-mail with more info since I probably saw this before Dick did. But if anyonelse is in the same boat the correct course of action is to contact Dick with your name and usually address or phone number to confirm who you are - then he will get back to you with your membership info.

When we took the new membership system live we tried to contact everyone on-line with their login info....but due to people changing e-mail addresses not everyone got their login info.

Well heck....Dick DID beat me to it :D

I won't bother sending you an e-mail then Loran :D

If you need help merging your accounts with the info Dick sent you be sure to check out this thread in the Rules and FAQ forum:
http://www.americansandassociation.org/ ... hp?t=14290

Then you'll get your ASA logo and you'll be able to login to your membership info with your 'glamisbound' name :D

Jason,

Just to give credit where credit is do...your email informed me how to merge my accounts, which I did. Dick must be slipping, because he forgot to metion that. I was wondering why the AMA didn't show up on any of my posts today.

Thanks again to both you guys

Sometimes two heads are better than one :D

I like to push the merge info since even though it's been posted on the BBS serveral times it seems a lot of people still aren't aware of it. It makes accessing your membership so much easier though that I like to risk being redundant to make sure people know about it!
