KFX 700 stories.

Post by Sloppyduner » Mon Nov 10, 2008 9:56 pm

Sloppy is pulling off another increadable score... a 2005 KFX 700. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Yes I know they are heavy. 516 dry. #-o BUT no shifting.

I'd like to hear stories (preferably true) about your expereance with the V-force.

I could say I went from a 99 Mojave to my TRX250R. Will the step be the same? The TRX turned out to be the most stable, quickest, torquiest (Word?) bike I ever had/owned/drove for more than a season.

What I'm starting to worry about with the KFX is back on 04 when I took a friends for a ride I was pulling the front end up and didn't even know. But his was built for racing Carbs, pipe and filter, maybe other things I don't remember. The one I'm getting is stock. Less than 60 hours.

If you have a 700, what did you ride before?
What was the learning curve?
What was the thing to get use to?
Are there hills you can't make it up? in 04 when I went up, the right side of Olds it seemed almost like it wouldn't make it 2/3rds of the way up. I backed off the throttle and got back into it (while leaning forward) I was amazed. It was like I down shifted. What was the deal there?
What, if anything, did you find you liked but didn't expect when you got it?
I'm expecting to get this beast burried a few times. On Summer trips I got to the point where I would stop up hill on my TRX and see if I could take off again without getting stuck. In fact that became something I liked to do when everybody was napping. I imagine taking off in soft stuff is way different with a 4 stroke CVT.

Sorry for rambling guys. Anybody that knows me, knows I've wanted a KFX 700 for years now. I won't have it out till Thanksgiving, which will also be the first time out since I had my chest cracked. So my blood is pumping and my brain is racing. I'm like Johnny 5 in Short Circuit "need more info!!" But I know that no matter what anybody tells me I won't know FOR SURE until I get out there and get on it.

I have a KFX700, but I have never ridden it at Glamis, we moved from so-cal to Denver about 12 years ago. I have ridden it at Little Sahara UT and St. Anthony ID, as well as the Walden dunes here in CO. I had a Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4 2stroke before it and a Honda 250X prior to that. No learning curve, best quad "I" have ever owned. I do not feel as though it is heavy, at least it does not feel heavy to me while riding it. One thing to get used to, some people say it "free wheels" down hills with no engine braking, true, it does not have traditional engine braking, but if you blip the throttle a little bit and keep the tranny engaged, it will be like engine braking while going downhill. I have buried mine, but have pretty much always been able to back out of the hole. I was able to climb everything I tried at Little Sahara and St. Anthony, but I did not make it back to the real steep stuff at ST A's.

Enjoy your new KFX !

I comented to Chuk, who by the way, I am MORE than greatful for helping me bring it home, that these plastics are the thickest and stiffest I have ever seen. The "new" OEM plastic on my TRX bend like rubber (not that I've damaged them for anyone thinking of buying it  ) Any word on anything else to do, or add to them besides not banging or sitting on them to protect them?
:-k Makes since though, make the super expensive plastics easy to break.

](*,) Here I am wanting to swap the wheels out but DANG I have too much stuff!!! There is NO WAY, the way I feel today that I can swap out to paddles, push it around, and take pix. Not to mention spruce up the other two toys I gotta get ready for people to look at. ](*,) ](*,)

If only someone wanted an Odyssey. Oh DAAAAANG (btw)the bars on this quad sit about as high as the roof on my Odyssey     Something tells me I'm gonna miss being able to throw my TRX around.
   Me throwing my TRX around    Like I ride that hard :^o
RX wrote:Good for you, Jon!!! Looks like a great bike for you I was expectinf Kawy GREEN
I never saw this quad before I picked it up. knew it had add-ons, and very little hours. I thought at worse it would be Orange. I knew it wasn't green. I LOVE this color. Well until I saw the blue one on line, but hey the plastics crack easy. Shes WAYYYY more than I expected though, so I still love er. :D

I am SOOOOO jazzed!!!!! Please excuse my excitement. I feel like I'm bragging.

I have not seen or heard of anyway to help save the plastic, other than not crashing. Sorry

Congrats. Kawis ROCK!!! Although the 700 seemed a little big and heavy when I saw one. Still, if the price is right.......there's no going wrong.

Arlo Guthrie

Aly now has that CD, I know this because I gave it to em, an on that CD is Alices Restaurant....a Thanksgiving classic. Now... if Aly, being Robert, will be there, with the CD, I would LOVE to listen to Alices Restaurant, with three part harmony, right there in the middle, and WAIT just a minute!!! You knowwww... Alices restaurant would be a good thing to have there with us, in our ears, at the washes, next to the train tracks, on a cool November eve-nin, but what would be even better, better than Alices restaurant... in our ears, at the washes, next to the train tracks, on a cool November eve-nin, would be Alices restaurant in our ears, at the washes, next to the train tracks, on a cool November eve-nin, an all, next to the fire with a cold beverage in one hand and a pouch of Roberts, also known as Aly...You remember Aly? Well his toffee is what we need. Now can you picture that? I don't mean 8-by-10 color glossy photos, with circles, an arrows, an a paragraph on the back-a-each one to be used against us in a court of law type picture. I mean...I MEAN Can you imagine us listening to Alices restaurant in the washes, next to the train tracks, on a cool November eve-nin, with a cold beverage in one hand passing around a pouch of Roberts toffee? Now that right there my friends is a good time, and a good time, I imagine it will be, as good times is what its like in the washes among friends in the best sand box in the world. And all you have to do to join in, is come down, sit down, shut up, listen up and grab the toffee next time it comes round the camp fire... an' when someone sets down the pouch of toffee, picks up a pickle, takes a bite, and tries to hand it to me... I'll have to tell em... I don't want your pickle [-X ... I just wanna ride my Motorcy- :-s cle :-^
