Re: First Trip of the Season

Great trip! Dunes were beat up but that's to be expected after a big weekend with almost no wind. Lots of people around thru Sunday, tried heading to B-ville around noon and the line of rigs at the stop sign @ wash 10 was prbably 20 long with folks letting rigs out from the wash itself the wait seem...

First Trip of the Season

Haven't been out since Easter last year. I'm looking forward to this Saturday and the freshly abandoned dunes next week! I will miss seeing all the action at the hills but it's a pretty fair trade for untracked (hopefully anyway) sand and sitting at the base of the hill hearing absolutely nothing bu...

Gotta love 2 strokes for ease of mechanical repair (just rebuilt the top end on the kid's banshee for the first time). And there's no denying the thrill of hitting the powerband on one. That said, I've always ridden a 4 stroke except when I've ridden 2 strokes! (My sea-doos are 2 strokes and I'm not...

A Duner created 'trail' in an already open area cannot be construed as requiring an EIS. It's an open area. Having said that, it would have to be created by travelling over it by normal transportation mode (ATV, Buggie, truck, 4x4 MoHo?) on a repeated basis. Who's first? as for getting past w6-8? To...

The new "critical habitat" designations may well end up as closed areas when all is said and done (that's my understanding at least), but the good news there is that the CH areas include less acreage than the current temp. closures (case in point the "Gekko Management Area" (closed area east of Gekk...

My Easter Weekend trip cost $450 in fuel including the T/H and my truck. Mind you I pumped a good 15 gallons of 91 octane into the wife's car when we got home so, less that, we actually spent about $400 in fuel. Now did it hurt that the cost of this trip was about $100 more than last year's trip on ...

You will know a witch eye when you see it, but they all pretty much look like Rick's photo. A big "v" shaped gouge where sand used to be, somehwere toward the top of the dune.
