Re: looking for dirt friends!!!

Take a look at http://www.rrduners.com/ We are a group of families of all ages. Our big trips are on the schedule at the website, but we go lots of other times. We usually camp at Wash 7, fairly near the road. We have 2 or 3 scheduled runs per day, with buggies and quads and dirt bikes. There are al...

Re: CARB outlaws race fuel for recreational purposes

Last week I bought 110 for my boat in Parker. They required my to fill out a form that said it would be using it for competition. I told them I thought California was the only state requiring that, and they said Arizona requires it to be on file too. I told them it was for a boat, and they said just...

Re: CARB outlaws race fuel for recreational purposes

My engine guy told me to run low lead Av Gas and add a little Marvel Mystery Oil to it to lube the valve and seals.

Re: CARB outlaws race fuel for recreational purposes

Does anyone know if you can actually get race gas (110 octane or better) in Ehrenberg or Yuma?

Re: What is the best St. Anthony camp site?

Try: http://www.thesandhillsresort.com/ They have a very nice campground with full hook-ups. Lots of grass and cement slabs to park on. The sand around the campground is fun, but it is a short (15 or 20 minute) ride to the biggest hills. There are other campgrounds closer to the big hills, but they ...

It's my understanding that if you have a Class A Commercial license and double tow -- a truck towing a 5th wheel with a boat trailer behind the 5th wheel -- you can be 70 feet. A motorhome and trailer can only be 65 feet, no matter what license you have.

Another vote for Brownies. I love to stop for breakfast there. Decent parking for rigs and trailers on the side streets.

Speeds on 86S

I am amazed at the speeds people tow at on 86S between Indio and Brawley. I usually tow at about 64 MPH becuase I figure that the CHP will give me about a 10 MPH cushion if I look safe. But last week I was driving my 64 and was passed by many, many trailers going well over 75 MPH. Sooner or later th...

Death at Sand Mountain

:( This is a friend that welded the tabs for my new seats about a month ago. He had a very nice rail he built himself with a Cadillac Escalade 6.0 liter motor. He has built many sand rails over the years and was very helpful to all of us duners -- he was a welder by trade. He was a very experienced ...

It went up this year, but is still quite a bit cheaper than Northern California sources. It is $8.50/gallon now. If someone knows of a cheaper place, let me know.

Most turbo motors need race gas. I use VP C-16 exclusively with high boost. McKenzies has the best price I have found. If you use AV gas, be sure to put in some Marvel Mystery Oil or some other additive to lube the gaskets and seals. I had the gaskets on my holly carbs freeze up on my blown 516 in m...

Glamis to Dumont

With your rig, I would suggest the straightest, freeway, route. Go back into Brawley, take 86 North to merge with I-10. Just past Redlands, take the hwy 30 Highlands freeway North until it merges with the I-215 North, then merge onto I-15 North to Baker. Using this route you will be on freeway excep...

wireless coverage

My AT&T always work at Glamis. I once had the Mexico problem and used the manual system to fix. However, it doesn't work so good at Gordon's Well camped next to the canal berm. My brother's Cingular never works at Glamis in the washes, but works fine at Gordon's Well.

The new 496 Vortec is a stroked 454. The 502 is the old truck/boat engine. The 496 is much more efficient and powerful. I have the 496 in my Suburban and it is much better than any gasoline engine around. I have the 502 bored to 516 and blown in my boat.
