Well I finally tried it. I could hit the repeater from home but WA6LAW said he could just barely make me out. I was on 5 W at the time. Just after I gave up I heard him talking to a guy in Lake Havasu.

Might be a good time to use an alternate route thru Brawley. Those that went thru this week had to deal with an East bound lane closure on Main St. due to the hotel fire. Still down at one lane and probably will be for quite a while. I'll miss the Planters Hotel.

They're just barely starting the construction. That I know of so far thats a waterline and tank. No trash going into the pits at the mine , the landfill wants the spoil piles to use as trash cover, so in essance moving one hill from one spot to another. Yeah, you can get there from the North side. At least one area you gotta cross is a deep gravel wash area. The road itself is extremely washboard. I won't take my toyhauler out there. I know the RINO's can be set with a boundry warning. I think it's a beep, not sure if it shows on the screen. I have not played with that part yet. Bet it's built in to other Garmins of recent also. Thinking Legends and Vistas I believe?

Does the W/D head (where the bars attach) separate from the draw bar?
When I changed trucks and needed more drop I was able to "TRADE" for a different draw bar, reattached the head and did the set up. Any chance of that?

Yup, at the moment the by-pass is at a stand still. I think works supposed to start at the beginning of the year again.........Maybe. But it has resulted in a new Jack in the Box next to C and C gas station.

Drop 5 (siphon?) as I know it is N of Mammoth Wash area, It's how you could access Mammoth from the north outta Niland. I think I remember some kind of gates out that way by roadrunner but I don't know what they are now that I think about it. sorry don't have coords for them tho.

Just to clarify a little, I was refering mostly to the gas dumping and lighting. (You know, the trenches, lines in the sand, etc.) Charcol lighter fluid is an acceptable way to START your fire, gas or diesel really can get you a ticket!

Just a friendly reminder: Throwing gas (or any other flammable liquid) into your fire is a violation of California Health and Safety Code #41800 and CAN result in a ticket/court date. :roll:
